South Holland is mainly known for its share in the Randstad; Rotterdam is one of the most important port cities in the world and The Hague is the political capital of the Netherlands. Yet South Holland is much more than just the bustle of the Randstad; there are also beautiful nature reserves in the province. The alternation between water, city and landscape makes the province an attractive walking area. According to the rules of The Nature Pyramid, this is very useful, because it is necessary to go into nature on a regional scale every week to stay healthy. The connection with Noord-Holland, Zeeland and Noord-Brabant is also good, so you can visit a different area every month on a national scale.

Activities
Did you feel like going out into nature? Then look for inspiration on the website Walking routes - Het Zuid-Hollands Landschap (zuidhollandslandschap.nl) . Here you will find many different hiking routes through all kinds of landscapes. The website of the ANWB ( Walking in South Holland | ANWB ) also recommends some beautiful routes.
In addition, there is an app, Wandelrouteplanner Zuid-Holland, which determines a route from your home, nearby or further in the province. You can also opt for a themed route along sights, about which you will receive information. See the website of the province for more information ( Walking route network - Province of South Holland ).
State Forestry
On the website of the Staatsbosbeheer ( Nature Reserves of Staatsbosbeheer ) you can find information about activities, walking routes and places of interest for each South Holland nature reserve. There are various walking routes in the Krimpenerwaard or Midden Delfland, places of interest such as dykes, mills and reed banks in the Alblasserwaard and recreational opportunities such as a 60-metre-long footbridge in Buytenhout or relics from the Second World War in Hollands Duin.
